The 88av 888 (JPO) and the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DGIP) commenced the PPH pilot program on 1 June 2013.

The JPO and the DGIP have agreed to launch PPH-MOTTAINAI, which covers a wider range of cases. The pilot period is scheduled to end on December 31, 2023, but will be extended as needed.

Notice of Change

• The Directorate General of Intellectual Property Rights (DGIP) has made the below change to the filing requirements for a PPH request, effective March 1, 2017.
  Thus far, a PPH request has been accepted by the DGIP anytime, however, an applicant is now required to file a PPH request at least 6 months from the publication date due to this change.
  Please visit our website below for the JPO’s revised PPH guidelines and PPH request Form.
• As from May 2019, the DGIP requires the applicants to pay additional fees for PPH requests. For details about the additional fees, please refer to the link below.
• From January 2021, PPH-MOTTAINAI has been available for this pilot program. (However, the first office must be JPO or DGIP)
