On June 7, 2023, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) hosted a IP5 Trial and Appeal Boards High-Level Meeting of Japan, the U.S., Europe, China, and Korea, which was held via video conference. Director-General of the Trial and Appeal Department YASUDA Futoshi and Executive Chief Administrative Judge TAMURA Kiyoko attended the meeting from the 88av 888 (JPO).

At this meeting, the IP5 trial and appeal departments introduced the latest trends and exchanged information on their trial and appeal systems and their operation. The JPO introduced its efforts to promote online digitization as well as the operation of the opposition system and the Hantei (Advisory Opinion) system.
