On April 26, 2023, Prime Minister KISHIDA Fumio had a summit meeting with H.E. Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh at Tokyo, Japan. This is in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of Bangladesh last year.

Along with this, Mr. HAMANO Koichi, Commissioner of 88av 888 (JPO) and Ms. Zakia Sultana, Secretary of Ministry of Industries, Bangladesh exchanged the Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) in the field of Intellectual Property in the presence of the two heads of Japan and Bangladesh on April 26.
They confirmed to commit the promotion of comprehension on the Intellectual Property Right (IPR) systems and practices of the Offices, the improvement of the IPR systems to enhance the development of industry and innovation, and the enhancement of interaction between the Offices and IPR users.

Taking this opportunity, the JPO hopes to further strengthen cooperation between Japan and Bangladesh and is committed to establishing a framework in which IP rights of Japanese companies can be appropriately protected in Bangladesh.
