The 88av 888 (JPO) and the Cambodian government commenced on March 30 to cooperate on two new IP research projects, in the areas of branding research and IP awareness, that are being conducted in Cambodia by the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA). In addition, two Memorandums of Cooperation (MOC) were signed among the Cambodian government, JPO and ERIA.

The purposes of the Branding Research Project are to research, analyze and disseminate cases of branding utilizing IP in Cambodia. In order to ensure the smooth implementation of the project, a MOC was signed by H.E. Dr. Pan Sorasak, Minister of Commerce, which is in charge of trademarks at the Cambodian government; Commissioner HAMANO from the JPO; and Professor NISHIMURA, President of ERIA.

The purpose of the IP Awareness Project is to raise awareness of IP protection for the results of research that is undertaken by Cambodian universities and startups, as well as to explore effective models for IP education. In order to ensure the smooth implementation of this project, a MOC was signed by H.E Kitti Settha Pandita Cham Prasidh, Senior Minister of Industry Science, Technology and Innovation of Industry (MISTI), which oversees patents and designs at the Cambodian government; Commissioner HAMANO from the JPO; and Professor NISHIMURA, President of ERIA.
